Dallas Adventures

Melissa and I decided to take a "date" weekend in Dallas.  We stayed at the Hilton Anatole, which is a really nice, huge conference hotel.  More than 1,600 rooms, and most of them filled with Arkansas Razorback fans in town for the Arkansas / Texas A&M game.  I have never seen so many people in red, walking into an upscale hotel, with all of their clothes on hangers...  We must have seen at least 20 people come through with hangers full of clothes, with no luggage or bags on the outside.  Just shirts, sweaters, pants, etc out in the open for all to see.

We took a walk outside in the hotel's greenspace / park space, and they were setting up for a "rally" of some sort related to the Razorbacks.  The Razorback fans had brought along their mascot - apparently a "Razorback" pig - in a big red trailer.  Most of the pigs I see in trailers are headed to less of a party...  Usually they're on the highway headed to their last party...  Anyways, spent a good amount of time people watching the interesting football fans...

Saturday (today), we went looking for geocaches.  Decided the best way to get to some decent ones was to rent a car.  Took a cab over to the downtown Avis, where we intended to rent an intermediate sized car for getting around.  No biggie, and they started to put us in a Hyundai.  Then, last minute, she offers us something "larger" for a few dollars more.  We drove out with a brand new, fully loaded red Chevy Suburban with only 20 miles on it...  Nice!

We set out for 4 geocaches in our sweet ride.  Found White Rock Lake park.  BEAUTIFUL!!!  Very picturesque spot with a nice veiw of both Dallas ad Fort Worth (or at least we think it was Fort Worth).  In the end, we only found 2 of the 4 caches we sought, which was dissapointing, but we dropped a new mini-geocoin in one of them, so we're looking forward to watching how it travels.  This particular one is called "Hawaii Bound" and it's goal is to visit the Hawaiin islands.

Planning on meeting up with a friend this evening in Fort Worth.  Should be a good time.  Then, we have a 7AM flight out to to Cincy to collect our children from Grandma and Grandpa (yea Grandma and Grandpa!!!)  Have to make sure we don't drink too much tonight so we can make our early flight...
